Micro HUB DPD

As a Subcontractor of DPD we deliver parcels daily to both private and business customers in the canton of Schaffhausen. At the beginning of July we started a new project in cooperation with DPD Switzerland. As one of the first locations in Switzerland we have set up a Micro HUB with DPD Switzerland at our location at Mühlentalstrasse 174 in Schaffhausen.
What are the advantages of such a Micro Hub?
Schäfli AG delivers and collects several hundred parcels daily in Schaffhausen on 5 different routes. The advantage of a Micro HUB is that our team of 5 drivers no longer has to pick up the parcels in Wittenwil. The picked up parcels are driven every evening from our Micro HUB by truck to the DPD depot in Buchs. The pre-sorted parcels, which are destined for delivery in the canton of Schaffhausen, are then loaded into the truck at the DPD depot and delivered to our warehouse during the night.
Our employees then sort the parcels at our warehouse according to the areas assigned to you. This shortens the daily working time of our team massively.
Since our 5 drivers no longer have to drive to the DPD depot in Wittenwil, we were able to generate massive savings in terms of time and the environment. We can now save 90 km per day and car, which for 5 cars is about 450 km and 45 liters per day or 117'000 km and 11'700 liters of fossil fuels per year.
At the same time we could fix the daily driven kilometers of the tours at 50 - 90 Km/day. With these daily KM the use of electric vehicles is feasible. Together with DPD a pilot project for testing 7 electrified delivery vehicles could be launched. 3 of the 7 vehicles have been successfully used for delivery since mid August.
We are proud to have DPD as an innovative and competent business partner with whom we can look into the future.
